Survey structure
New snaring incidents can be reported using the online form. Details about the location of the snare and the animal caught are vital pieces of information to enable a picture to be built up of the prevalence of snares, the animals caught in them and the type of injuries sustained.
A snaring survey is available for those who have handled snaring cases through their work in a veterinary centre, wildlife crime enforcement or as a member of an animal protection group. The survey details the number of cases and types of animals involved. There is also an opportunity to record one particular case study and submit photos or associated documents, such as post mortem reports.
Post mortem research: Veterinary surgeons are able to download a post mortem report that will provide a basis for autopsies carried out on animals that have died in snares or that have been euthanized after sustaining snare injuries.
You can sign up against snares and add your voice to a call for an end to the use of these devices.
